Gas Seals

Gas Seals for Compressors and Pumps

Advanced Dry Gas Sealing Solutions for Critical Rotating Equipment

Gas Seals

AESSEAL® has invested heavily in the development of gas seal technology, producing a range of compressor dry gas seals and pump gas seals
designed to perform on high pressures, high speeds, and large diameters.

Designs are engineered and manufactured using a modular system to support product quality, continuity, and reduced delivery times. Testing is carried out at a dedicated gas seal testing facility to ensure performance on challenging duties.

Discuss Gas Seal Applications

Compressor Dry Gas Seals and Systems

Dry gas seals are considered by many to be at the top of the mechanical seal technology ladder. They operate differently to wet mechanical seals, and can provide excellent emissions control and performance in critical compressor service.

AESSEAL® produces compressor dry gas seals in all configurations. Uni-directional and bi-directional designs are available and can be supported by a range of separation seals.

Compressor Seal Options

Two examples from the compressor dry gas seal range. We can help confirm configuration, operating envelope, and the right support system for your duty.

CCS™

Conventional Compressor Seal

Tandem cartridge seal where the inboard seal is designed to seal up to 82 bar (1200 psi), supported by an outboard seal
that acts as a low pressure tandem seal.

HHCS

Hydrostatic Hydrodynamic Compressor Seal

Hydrostatic and hydrodynamic dry gas compressor seal technology, offering robust protection for sealing surfaces during
start-up, shutdown, slow roll, and upset conditions.

CCS™

Conventional Compressor Seal

Tandem cartridge seal, inboard designed up to 82 bar (1200 psi), with outboard low pressure tandem seal.

HHCS

Hydrostatic Hydrodynamic

Protects sealing surfaces during start-up, shutdown, slow roll, and upset conditions.

Dry Gas Seal Support Systems

AESSEAL® gas conditioning systems incorporate key API modules plus enhancements informed by field experience, supporting reliability and longevity. For every application, AESSEAL® performs in-house phase analysis to determine the required level of gas conditioning.

Typical System Features

  • NACE compliance
  • Patent pending TriStage™ prefiltration (improved bulk liquid removal)
  • Superior gas filtration, more stringent than API requirements
  • Pressure booster for seal gas continuity under transient conditions
  • High purity nitrogen generation to reduce reliance on plant nitrogen
  • Heater system for dew point control

Designed for Maintainability

Systems are engineered by teams with extensive field experience, using an ergonomic, coherent layout with easy maintenance access to key components.

Goal: Maintain seal gas quality and pressure under real operating conditions, without taking the system off-line for routine service tasks.

Typical System Features

  • NACE compliance
  • TriStage™ prefiltration
  • Enhanced gas filtration
  • Pressure booster
  • Nitrogen generation option
  • Dew point control heater

Pump Dry Gas Seals

The advantages of sealing pumps with dual pressurised dry gas seals are becoming widely recognised. AESSEAL® has developed pump dry gas seals to suit a wide range of applications and standards (ANSI/DIN).

CAPI-74

Face to Face Category 2 & 3 Seals

Dual pressurised dry gas sealing arrangements designed for pump duties where emissions control and reliable separation from atmosphere are required.

UDGS

Universal Dry Gas Seal

Non-contacting, gas lift dual cartridge seal primarily designed for pumps (ANSI/DIN), offering practically zero process emissions in service. Designed for long life, low power consumption, and reduced support system capital cost.

CAPI-74

Face to Face Category 2 & 3

Dual pressurised dry gas seal arrangements for pump duties where emissions control is critical.

UDGS

Universal Dry Gas Seal

Non-contacting gas lift dual cartridge seal for pumps (ANSI/DIN), with practically zero process emissions.
